Dont Turn Back

It is so easy to turn back and decide not to do something or not to go somewhere. Turning back on the path we are on occurs way too often. Probably because it is the easiest path and the one most traveled. The less traveled path is the one that only a few take and still some of those turn back. There are reasons people turn back. In addition, there are consequences.  (want to be with the crowd)

Reasons for Turning Back

There are reasons why we turn back or why we feel the need to turn back. These reasons are really excuses we attempt to tell ourselves so we can justify in our minds not to do what we should be doing.

Most of the time when we turn back, we are looking at who we believe we are and what we believe we are capable of. That is where we go wrong. Our own thoughts sometimes limit us in what we are able to do.

When we begin to feel like we need to turn back, we need to stop thinking and start doing.

We should stop thinking about what others are doing and stop thinking about what we can’t do and just start doing something. Our limiting beliefs will want us to turn back but we have to cling to our faith and hope in God knowing that He will help us to persevere.

Consequences of Turning Back

We don’t know what will happen if we don’t do what we should do but we will quickly find out when we decide not to do it. And by then it may be too late.

There was a man whose wife wanted to turn back to a place she was familiar. She wasn’t willing to move forward as God had called them to do. As a result of her action, she was turned into a pillar of dust.

For every action we take, there will be a result. We need to first look at the results we want, then take action required for that result.

Results are better than consequences.

When we turn back and don’t go the direction God wants us to go, there will be consequences. When we go the direction He wants us to go, and don’t turn back, we will see results.

Instead of Turning Back

Rather than turning back, we should live it forward. We should be looking at our next step rather than our last one. Kent Julian’s website is about moving ahead and not going back. From his site: “Today, the Live It Forward LLC, Kent coaches and trains hundreds of people each year to make the move to the work and life they love.” Kent is a forward kind of guy.

When we decide to go forward in life, we will be able to do what God is calling us to do. We will be able to make the difference He wants us to make. We will be able to leave behind the things and people holding us back. We will be able to leave behind our negative self-talk and limiting beliefs. Moving forward requires that we don’t turn back.

To keep from turning back we have to stop following the crowd of people going in the wrong direction.

We don’t know what lies ahead for us but we will never know until we decide today, and every day, to never turn back.
