Parable of TalentsWe are each given talents to use while we are here on earth. When we choose to do things other than what God has called us to do, we are going to have to answer to Him on Judgment Day. Think about the story in Matthew 25:14-30. The master gave coins to three of his servants. Two of them invested and brought back more to him. The third hid the money because he was afraid of losing it. He played it safe.

We need to examine our own lives and see if we are playing it safe. Are we keeping what we have to ourselves without risking it on helping others? Are we living in fear of what others may think and chose to do nothing so others won’t think we are crazy or we are failures?

We need to examine our own lives and see if we are wasting time. The third servant hid the money and did nothing. He didn’t have games to play back then, well not Internet games. But he possible took naps, rested, counted rocks…things like that. He didn’t stay busy doing what his master wanted him to do. He didn’t take a risk to make more money for his master.

We need to examine our own lives and see if we are not doing anything because we feel we won’t be as successful as others. We think by just doing a little it won’t be enough. We create the excuse that doing nothing is better than doing something and only succeeding a little. We shouldn’t compare what we do to what others are doing. God’s plans are different for different people.

God wants us to go out and do what He call us to do. It doesn’t matter if we are afraid because He can help us overcome our fears. It doesn’t matter if we are taking risks because He will keep us safe when we step out of our comfort zone for Him. It doesn’t matter if we just do a little with our efforts because He is able to multiple our little to make a lot as He sees fit.

The worst thing we can do is nothing and just waste away our lives due to fear, laziness or jealousy. Deciding to take a stand for God and to live for Him is the step He wants us to take. It is time we stop being afraid, stop being lazy and stop comparing ourselves to others.

God has a purpose for us all. Some of us will be assigned to the small tasks and others to the large tasks. When God calls us to do something, there is no mistake.

It’s time to examine our own lives and see where we are playing it safe. Are we not taking an opportunity to do more in our relationships? Are we not spending the time God gives us to help others? Are we throwing away money for worldly things rather than investing them in doing good? Are we using our talents or just sitting on them waiting for that perfect opportunity?

Today, we need to take action on what God is calling us to do. If we don’t know, we should go to Him and get into His word. He will reveal the next step. We need to stop playing it safe by doing nothing. There is more harm than good in playing it safe by not doing God’s will for our lives.

Matthew 25:29 “To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.” (NLT)
